Ever since the snowy theme of Fortnite season 7 was revealed, and one of the battle pass skins was an outright snowboarder, it seemed obvious that Fortnite would be getting some sort of snowboard-like mobility item.
We saw teases and leaks of this item, the Driftboard, more than six weeks ago (it was literally the week 4 loading screen), but now here, when season 7 is almost over and now in “overtime” mode before season eight, is when we’re finally seeing the item arrive in the game. And Epic is already saying that it’s not going to stick around for long.
The news feed is now teasing the “stylin’ and profilin’ “ Driftboard, which should arrive in the game in a patch tomorrow or Wednesday, depending on when the update turns out to be. It’s not clear exactly how it will work, but given that it’s a hoverboard, not a snowboard, I don’t think it will only function in say, the snowy part of the map, and you may be able to surf around anywhere and use it as a new type of one-man vehicle, more or less the first of its kind. And yes, you can shoot from it.
