One of the final updates of the current Fortnite: Battle Royale season should be coming soon.
The latest update, v7.40, was pushed back and released on Thursday, Feb. 14. Most notably, it introduced the new Infantry Rifle, Overtime challenges, and several important balance adjustments.

But now, another update will likely be released this week. It’s unclear whether the update will be v7.50 or a content update for v7.40—but we think it’ll probably just be a content update.
Regardless of what this update is called, here are some of the things that might change or be introduced this week.
Driftboard
The item that will likely headline the next major Fortnite update is the highly-anticipated Driftboard.
Epic Games revealed that it’s finally “coming soon” to Fortnite in the latest in-game News message. The Driftboard was originally teased on Dec. 17, 2018, but Epic later delayed the release of it on that same day.
Since then, players have been waiting for the new single player vehicle to become available in Fortnite—and it seems like the snowboard is set to be introduced to the game this week.
More Overtime challenges
Although these tasks aren’t explicitly a part of an upcoming update, more Overtime challenges are set to be added to Fortnite this week. Four challenges will go live tomorrow (Feb. 19) and four more will become available on Feb. 22.
These challenges are extremely important because if you complete 13 of them, you’ll get the season eight Battle Pass for free. Eight Overtime challenges are available right now after three new ones were introduced on Saturday.
More earthquakes
The latest map-altering phenomenon in Fortnite is earthquakes. Seismic activity started on Feb. 16, causing multiple cracks to appear all over the map.
It’s unclear what these cracks mean at this time, but plenty more are set to show up throughout the rest of season seven. Maybe there will be more clues as to the purpose of the cracks in the upcoming update, though.
Balance adjustments
Of course, no Fortnite update would be complete without balance changes. Although we don’t know what items or weapons might be altered in the upcoming update, it’s safe to assume that Epic will introduce some adjustments.
A release date for the next major Fortnite update hasn’t been announced yet. Since v7.40 was delayed to Thursday last week, it’s possible that Epic could wait to release the v7.40 content update on Feb. 21. If that’s the case, this would likely be the final update before season seven ends on Feb. 28.
We’ll update this article when Epic confirms the name and release date for the next Fortnite update.
