The evolution and story of Fortnite’s K-Pop / IKONIK skin

One of the most fabled Fortnite skins which has yet to release at the time of writing is the K-Pop skin. Never heard of it? We don’t blame you.

On Sunday, September 16th, 2018 the K-Pop skin was discovered in the Fortnite v5.40 assets. However, only an image of the skin was found- no other data could be located.

On Monday, October 29th, 2018 the image asset for the K-Pop skin was removed alongside the Onesie skin which would go on to be a Season 7 Battle Pass item.

Since then, Fortnite fans have speculated just what the K-Pop skin could’ve been. Rumors circulated claiming that the K-Pop skin was exclusive to Asian Fortnite players due to their inability to access the Item Shop due to government restrictions. This couldn’t be proven.

Thankfully, Samsung has announced their new partnership with Epic Games to bring yet-another exclusive skin to Samsung device owners.

Fans who purchase the Samsung Galaxy S10+ will receive a code for the IKONIK skin which is clearly an updated variant of the K-Pop skin.

Despite popular belief, the K-Pop skin will be releasing in the near future through this promotion. Interestingly enough, it is not exactly as it was originally leaked.

What are your thoughts on the original K-Pop skin versus the new IKONIK skin?
